Operation principle
HTAF active power filter is mainly consisted of instruction current arithmetic circuit and compensation current generating circuit. Instruction current arithmetic circuit monitors current in line on real time, changes analog current signal into digital signal, deals signal in DSP, divides harmonic and fundamental wave, sends drive pulse to impregnated current generating circuit in PWM form, drives IGBT or IPM power module, produces current with opposite polarity and same amplitude of compensating current and sends current into electrified wire netting, compensates or counteracts harmonic current and cancels electric harmonic actively. In this way, harmonic current is dealt actively, quickly and completely.
HTAF active power filter can supply required fundamental reactive compensating current, achieves dynamic reactive compensation and improves power factor of electrified wire netting.

Main disadvantages of harmonic
•Increasing electrical equipment’s loads, reducing system power factor, reducing valid capacity and efficiency of electric generator and electric power transmission and electrical equipment, wasting lines and equipment, losing electric energy
•Overload resonance vibration of reactive compensation capacitor, compensating equipment burnout or not work because of over current and over voltage
•Mechanical vibration produced by pulsating torque which affect the quality of produce and service time of electrical motor
•eddy current and Kelvin effect make electrical motor, transformer and transfer line add power loss and overheat, waste electrical energy and accelerate insulation degradation
•harmonic voltage increases electric-field intensity of insulating medium by direct proportion of peak voltage, reducing equipment service time
•Harmonic current of the multiple of three cause neutral line becoming overload in three phase four lines system and produces circuit current in transformer coils of delta connection. Coil current is beyond rating value and accident will happen in serious situation.
•Harmonic can change acting characteristic of protective relay, cause relay protective action’s maloperation and regional power off.
•Harmonic can change voltage and current’s change rate and peak value, delay arc extinguished, affect breaking capacity of circuit breaker.
